Valorant: Recreating Sages’ Slow Orb – Part 1

After showing off a new valorant agent design created by MidJourneys Image Generation Transformer you can guess, that currently i play a lot of valorant. So this post is a part of a series with the focus of analyzing and recreating popular game mechanics or features. My most played Agent is Sage, so for this blog article we will have a look at one of Sages’ abilities. In this case we will have a look at her Q-Skill, which is called “Slow Orb”

First of all we will analyze Sages’ Slow Orb and split the skill into smaler segments.

Phase 1: The Launch

Throw the Particle in a slope, have it bounce on walls and enter next Phase if landing on ground.

Phase 2: The Landing

On Entering this Phase, play an animation. Move the Orb up and then towards the ground and explode. After Animation has ended, enter next Phase

Phase 3: Spawning Particles

On Entering this phase, spawn Mesh with Material and Render Mask??? or Decal with Shader?

After spawning the chunks of ice effect, we will spawn some additional particles like its shown in the following picture. From time to time there are also some kind of sparks being spawned randomly across the ice surface.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Sage_01-1.png

Phase 4: Despawn Ice Effect

After Timer runs out, remove the Effect by despawning chunks of ice one after the other.
